Upcycling and Max’s nursery – two of my favourite things to ‘do’ and even better when the two collide.
If you follow me on Instagram you’d have seen me making full use of the my upcycled picture shelf which I found as a ruined plank of wood at HomeSense and DIY’d into the tribal inspired piece that it is now.
So when I recently came across these safari animal coat hooks in Matalan (for a bit of a bargain at £6!), I knew exactly what I was going to do with them.
Max’s room has a tribal adventurer theme, with a mix match of arrows, teepees and cactus’ taking centre stage. But it is a baby’s nursery so I was always keen to keep it cute as well as cool, and what better way to do that than with animals. So while you won’t find giraffe, pandas and elephants in the Wild West or in the Rockies, you will find them in Max’s bedroom, wearing a feather headband where possible (as per my lion and panda prints).
It was the simplest DIY job possible – wrap masking tape around the black hooks, and spray paint the animal heads. Easy peasy.
But what a difference a bit of gold spray paint can make! It really brings out the detail which was a bit disguised by the original finish.
Perfect for hanging Max’s teeny tiny dressing gown on the back of the door!
