The Week That Was… The Romaine Lettuce!

Week 31 of pregnancy, when baby was around 44cm long and the size of a Romaine Lettuce, was a busy old week!

It kicked off on day one with my friend’s hen do, for which I’m a bridesmaid and had organised the weekend along with the other two ‘maids. Luckily for me, the bride had wanted a spa weekend which meant that amongst all the organising, decorating and small talk with the other hens, there was an element of relaxing.

So much so that after my allotted treatment (a glorious back massage and facial) I nipped into the darkened relaxation room for a quick 5 minutes and an hour later woke up with dribble on the pillow. I slipped into the pool area hoping no-one had noticed I’d been gone for over 2 hours by that point and had been neglecting my bridesmaid duties.

I needed it though, I’d felt myself flagging over lunch, and it meant that I managed to stay up, still wearing heels, until 1am that night for the meal in the private dining room at the hotel where we spent the weekend. If you’re looking for a night away in Cheshire for a bit of R&R (away from the kids) I’d recommend Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa in Nantwich.

My maternity wear for the weekend was my Asos Maternity stripe swimsuit (now on sale for £14!) and the Asos Maternity bardot dress.

The day after the main ‘do, the three ‘maids took the bride for Sunday lunch and a flower arranging workshop, which was by far my favourite part of the weekend. I’ll do a separate post on this as it’s a great way to spend a girlie afternoon and who doesn’t want a post full of flowers!

Elsewhere in week 31, we attended our first Antenatal Class – read all about that here – and ended the week with a day off work so we could head up to the Lake District with my parents for our final jaunt sans-child.

Baby seems to have upped the movement this week too, preferring to spend most of their time with their feet wedged into my lungs, making it a faint and lightheaded affair when I’m doing no more than sitting at my desk. But the rolling around and big digs are still coming thick and fast and I love that constant reminder of what my body is achieving.

It’s been a busy old week and it’s gone crazy fast, I can’t believe I’ve now only got 8 weeks to go!!
