Last week saw the welcome return of Mamas and Papas to Liverpool. After closing it’s doors in both Liverpool ONE and the New Mersey Retail Park (a huge two floor store) a few years ago, the closest Mamas and Papas was at the Trafford Centre in Manchester, which is quite frankly not close enough.
So when I got the email to say a new M+P was opening back in new Mersey Retail Park, on a smaller scale to the last one, and that they were having a launch event to celebrate I couldn’t wait to get myself down there.
Mamas and Papas is one of the favourite UK baby stores for a good reason – it sits somewhere in the middle of luxury and bargain, with gorgeous designs, a premium feel but for not quite premium prices, when compared to somewhere like The White Company.
I popped down to the launch event on my lunch break when working from home last Friday, and considering I’d arrived just after the 11am start time, it was packed with fellow preggos and Mums with pushchairs, all greeted at the door with free water, muffins and a bunch beautiful wild flowers (I actually wasn’t, they must have ran out, but saw other people with them and was cheeky enough to ask at the till if I could have a bunch, wheich they happily produced from behind the scenes).
During the five hour event, they were holding half-hourly talks on tips for new Mums-to-be and post-pregnancy fitness, and relaxing hand massages from Bloom and Blossom – neither of which I got to enjoy thanks to only being on my lunch break.
The store is nice and shiny new, not huge but big enough to fit in lots of the best bits, including a whole section at the back for travel systems and pushchairs which includes a cute half Mini Cooper to try out travel systems for size and space – handy!
There are much needed Parent Rooms for feeding and what not, and a Personal Shopping Service for those who are lucky enough to have their little ones decked out in M+Ps.
The rest of the store is full to the brim of beautiful clothes, bedding, nursery furniture and inspiring displays which do their job of making you
need want everything in the store. And with attentive and very friendly staff on hand to answer any questions, and POS screens for you to browse through the rest of the M+P range which might not be there in store, it’s basically got everything you could want in a Mamas and Papas experience.
Of course I couldn’t leave empty handed, so I made the most of the 20% off offer and picked up the My First Playmat & Gym which we really wanted (it’s SO cuddly I want an adult version pretty badly). I’ve got my eye on a beautiful blanket, which should Baby Lynch be a girl, will be on my wish list…
At the till, upon proving I’d shared a photo in-store on Instagram tagging @MamasandPapas and #MandPSpeke, I was given a goodie bag which included a fleecy blanket, the M+P AW16 brochure (I think they might have been checking out my Pinterest boards for inspiration on the design of this brochure, it’s so minty, grey and gold!), some recipe cards for healthy smoothies and a £10 gift card which will no doubt come in very handy soon!
All in all, it was a lunch hour well spent, and nothing short of what you’d expect from Mamas and Papas. I’m looking forward to visiting again soon with the husband who will no doubt get carried away in pursuit of using that gift card!
Don’t leave us again, M+Ps!
