Nursery Vibes: Monochrome decor for a neutral nursery

I’m not sure if there’s supposed to be a point where it’s ok to start thinking about the fun parts of pregnancy, which in my case are the crazy cute baby clothes and the dreamy nursery decor (not the pram and pump kind of stuff). I was planning on waiting until after 20 weeks and that all important scan before I got stuck into it, but I can’t help but let my mind wander to colours, wall stickers and mini furniture for our mini human.

Interiors and anything home-related is my main love in life, so while I long for the days to work somewhere in that arena, it’s currently just what I like to spend my spare time doing. Love it. So I’ve given in and have started getting fully into the nursery vibes, Pinterest board and all.

There are so many possibilities and I’m on something of a clock, so I’ll have to get decisive at some point down the line, but for now I’l just enjoying taking in all the ideas and building a mental image of how our box room will become Baby Lynch’s room.

If like me, you’re not finding out the gender of the baby, keeping it neutral is key. But that doesn’t mean it has to be boring, far from it. To start off my Nursery Vibes I’m starting broad and am looking at some of the top gender neutral colour themes. Starting with a bold one… monochrome!

A bold statement and sometimes a little stark looking, it can be warmed up with the addition of gold metallic touches, and fun prints and textures so there’s loads for baby to look at.

  1. I love the scan look and this monochrome is lovely but I would break it up too. I love a dash of ochre colour with monochrome. The personalised bunting is lovely. We have bunting in our play room and it looks great! TY for linking up to #FamilyFun 🎉

  2. I love this look – wish it had been about when mine were small. I love your instagram feed – have just followed you. Do you follow a girl called Lorena_M_F on IG? I think you’d love her style also – I have total style envy with there and she has some beautiful shots of her nursery #familyfun

  3. I love the monochrome look – we have the same for our bedroom and I think it’s lovely. We’re also doing up the nursery at the moment and it’s very exciting choosing colours and designs for the walls too. I particularly love your bunting, I think that looks gorgeous xx #familyfun

    1. It’s really in isn’t it! I think we’re going to go for greys with mint green and gold, but I’m keeping an open mind while I look through all these gorgeous ideas! Thanks for reading, hope your pregnancy is going well! xx

  4. Love it! I’m in the midst of redoing my 10 month old boy’s box room – in a monochrome ‘adventure’ theme. So this is right up my street. I love those teepees and have my eye on a very similar B/W striped one for his first birthday. I’m off to follow you on Instagram and Pinterest now…

  5. I love a black and white nursery, it’s such a gorgeous look! Sadly I have no more babies to prepare a nursery for but we are in the middle of doing the 2 and 12 year olds bedrooms and I think both of them would adore this! #fartglitter

  6. Ooh I never considered black and white for a nursery but it actually looks really effective! Babies love this too don’t they so I’m sure you’re onto a winner, and the amount of soft toys and bits of multi coloured plastic bits that they accumulate will add a splash of colour for contrast haha. Love the bunting! Both of our tots entire bedrooms were designed around their bunting!
Thanks for linking up with #fartglitter x

    1. I’m with you, I love colour too so I’m mixing it up a bit. Now I just have to find the EXACT shade of mint green that is in my head but apparently doesn’t exist anywhere else! Thanks for reading! xx

  7. I love the monochrome / scandi look but personally, for babies I like to see a bit of colour as it makes the nursery more fun.

  8. I love the monochrome look too but not necessarily for a babies room — I’m such a colour lover. White with brights is my preference there. That said, I change my mind like the wind when it comes to interiors!!! Thanks so much for linking up with us lovely — great to have you! Caro #HomeEtc

    1. I’m with you Caro, I think this is a really striking look but I love a bit of colour so I’m not going for this style. Although trying to decide what I actually want is a different matter! x
